Music Grading Guidelines
Parents often have questions about how we figure your student's music grade. Assessment in music happens in many ways; Teacher observation, individual and group rubric assessment, and pencil/paper quizes. If you have any questions about your child's music grade please e-mail at [email protected].
Kindergarten Music Grades
Skills and Conduct
4= Above grade level expectations
3= Consistent/Independent
2= Developing skills/concepts, minimal guidance
1= Below expectations, unable to exhibit skills with guidance
Grades 1-5 Music Grades*
E= achievement is excellent
Student shows extra effort/work in music.
Student shows mastery exceeding grade level expectations
Student makes accomplishments beyond expectation in music
Student has above-average grades on written work where appropriate
S= achievement is satisfactory
Student shows reasonable effort in music
Student satisfies 70% or more on TEKS and North East Standards
Student makes accomplishments appropriate for grade level in music
Student has average grades on written work where appropriate
N= achievement needs improvement
student shows little or no effort in music
student satisfies less than 70% of the TEKS and North East Standards
student makes accomplishments below expectations for grade level in music
student has below average grades on written work where appropriate
*Grades 2-5 receive an E, S, or N, not a numeric grade. Please disregard the numeric grade assigned in the parent portal.
